Thank you @Disneyland for showing me just how much you care about your magic key holders. I just beat brain cancer this year, and you’re telling me that you cannot credit the months I was unable to go due to chemotherapy treatments. Unreal. @KTLA

I spoke with a principal today who welcomes all the subs in the building as part of her morning announcements.
She uses it as an opportunity to make the subs feel valued and to underscore the high expectations for students.
How cool is that!?
I draw on the wisdom of Toni Morrison:
"This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal."

As crappy as I have been feeling, I could never not wear my vote shirt on Election Day, or you know, not vote. Get out there if you haven’t mailed yours in. #vote
Whew, what a busy month of school! Hello X! I have such a killer group of students this year & I am excited to show them off. One of my favorites so far was making AirBNBs for the 13 colonies. Had a competition for most creative title and prettiest pictures...voting was intense.

I was touched to see Gus Walz’s joy when his dad @Tim_Walz took the stage last night. Thankful for you showing us all what real love looks like, Gus.
Let’s be a nation that embraces this kind of warmth and vulnerability, instead of making fun or mocking it. We could all use some of Gus’s example in our own lives.

ALT “May you find the people who will sustain you and remind you that this work matters. May you delight in your students—their brilliance and their quirks. May you find the good in your day, tuck it into your heart, and work to replicate it. May you always know: You are enough.” —Rebecka Peterson, Teacher
History is all about contingency—nothing is inevitable. Teach students to see our current election through this lens, understanding the power and uncertainty of their role in shaping history. #TeachDemocracy#HistoryEducation
Thank you to the amazing edus who came together to share ideas and resources tonight! Notes & a wakelet on the way for a share out. Thanks @MapM8ker & @shannonsalter70 for helping it run smoothly 🩷 #sschat
For over five years, I've sent out my Imperfect Union, every month on the 15th of the month. Because of the news, I wrote another post this month on the history of big Supreme Court decisions and how they are overcome. Check your inboxes or subscribe today. Link below:
