KARMELO ANTHONY TRIAL: Yesterday, Karmelo Anthony was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison.
After being taken into custody, he was held in isolation at the Collin County jail and has since been transferred to the Pack Unit in Navasota by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, per local CBS reports.
His GiveSendGo fundraiser, which raised over $625,000 in “defense funds,” has also been removed from the platform. Earlier today, GiveSendGo issued a statement saying, “Those funds were disbursed over the past year for lawful purposes… With the stated purpose now complete, the fundraiser has been closed.”
Supporters of Anthony have been extremely vocal about the case, with even Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett coming forward and stating that she wasn’t sure if the knife Anthony used to murder Metcalf could be considered a “deadly weapon.”
Supporters of Metcalf have been extremely supportive of the family, especially after the emotional victim impact statements given yesterday by his mother, father, and twin brother.
