How sad to hear of Miguel's passing
Absolutely horrific to learn that Miguel Alario Franco, a leading solid-state chemist from Spain, suddenly passed away yesterday. We enjoyed his presence during the last GRC only a month ago, and we will miss him, his famous humor and spectacular jokes. RIP

If you’re choosing a research group to join, pay just as much - if not more - attention to the culture and mentoring style in the group than the research. You can succeed in lots of research areas or projects, but it’s tough to succeed in an unsupportive environment.

Read this amazing work by Maxx and his team!
As solid state chemists, it is rare that we get to emulate structural motifs found in nature in our synthetic crystals. Appearing in @NatureMaterials, we report our discovery of a new all-inorganic helical material. @UCIChemistry @UCIPhysSci @UCIrvine (1/4)

A photo of the Woodward group academic tree from the just concluded Solid State Chemistry GRC. As always, it was a phenomenal conference. I'm very proud of the amazing science these individuals are doing, including a great talk from @FryPetit

Linh and Niko had a great time working in the @RodriguezLabUMD this week! The DSC and TGA data will make our in situ diffraction experiments more successful. Huge shout out to Steph for all her help and insights! This week was only possible through generous @NSF EAGER funding!
