Tim Allen (1953)
Are you a fan?
-For one week in November 1994, he had the #1 rated television series (Home Improvement (1991)), the #1 movie at the box office (The Santa Clause (1994)), and the #1 book on the best seller's list ("Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man").
-During the run ofΒ Home Improvement (1991), he was often sent shirts and sweaters by various colleges to wear on the air, and he did.
-Spent 28 months in jail after being arrested for attempted drug-dealing (1978).
-Was not the original choice for his 2 most iconic roles which were the roles of Scott Calvin in the Santa Claus franchise and Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise. Both roles were turned down by both Bill Murray and Chevy Chase before going to Tim Allen.
-The movie What Women Want (2000) was originally written for him to star in with a tentative 1996 release date and was in development at Disney's Touchstone Pictures who also produced his hit series Home Improvement (1991). However his commitments to that series and the films Jungle 2 Jungle (1997) and For Richer or Poorer (1997) forced him to decline. The script was eventually put in turnaround and was sold to Paramount Pictures with Mel Gibson taking over the role originally intended for Allen.
