Ben ik de enige die een naar gevoel krijgt van hoe bitcoin en bitcoin bezitters in de traditionele media wordt neergezet? Het lijkt nèt alsof bitcoiners worden weggezet als anti-systeem of anti-overheid of anti-bank extremisten die vooral uit zijn op anonimiteit en die kosten wat het kost heel veel geld willen verdienen. Terwijl bitcoin weggezet wordt als digitaal muntje, zonder waarde, het is niks. De koers zou enkel stijgen door Trump, omdat hij positief zou zijn over bitcoin vanwege betalingen door bitcoiners. Daarbij wordt de boodschap doordrenkt met schuldgevoel: alsof het feit dat de koers stijgt een probleem is, omdat anderen dit ‘geluk’ niet hebben gehad. (Doet me denken aan het stuk van de ECB.) Het voelt zó simplistisch dat ik me er bijna voor schaam dat de ‘gewone jan in de straat’ dit beeld mee krijgt over bitcoin en bitcoiners. Een in mijn ogen zeer negatief beeld, terwijl de uitleg zoveel meer nuance nodig heeft om te ontdekken wat bitcoin, dankzij haar sterke en fundamentele grondbeginselen, voor de wereld kan betekenen.
