Hancock County: The SR 15/East Sparta Bypass is officially open to traffic!

We continue our summer tour of the district by visiting Jenkins County and highlighting two bridge projects. Two new bridges will be built on SR 21 over the railroad near US 25. Additionally, the bridge on W. Old Savannah Rd. over Deep Creek will be replaced.

Laurens County: A new traffic shift has been scheduled for Thursday, June 11 as part of the US 441 widening project. Contractors will shift all traffic to the future northbound side of the road for the entire length of the project.

***Update*** Because of favorable weather conditions, crews implemented the traffic shift a day early, June 10. The intersection of US 441 and Payne Rd. has also reopened to traffic.

GREENE COUNTY: Traffic pacing has been scheduled for Sunday, June 14 on Interstate 20 near Exit 130/State Route 44. This will allow Georgia Power to relocate utilities as part of the ongoing State Route 44 widening project.

Beginning at 5:00 a.m., Georgia State Patrol will slow eastbound traffic near MM 128, and westbound traffic near MM 132.6. Troopers will pace traffic to the work site, located near MM 130.4. Once clear of the work site, traffic will be released.

Putnam County: A lane closure has been scheduled on SR 44 for Wednesday, June 10. SR 44 will be a one-lane road between milepost 19 and milepost 20, just south of Lick Creek. This will allow crews to repair alligator cracking in the road.

Greene County: Pittman Construction Company has scheduled lane closures on Thursday, June 4 as part of the SR 44 widening project. The contractor will mill between Meadow Crest Spur and I-20 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday. All work will be done no later than 4:30 p.m.

TENNILLE: New roundabout configuration scheduled to be implemented Wednesday, June 3 at SR 15 and SR 68. Crews are scheduled to be working in the road Wednesday 6/3 - Friday 6/5.

On Wednesday, crews will use barrels and striping to change the intersection to a roundabout configuration. Crews will then work to build a concrete island on Thursday and Friday.

The existing signal will be reprogrammed to flash beginning on Wednesday. It will be removed at the end of the project. Use caution when navigating the intersection in the coming weeks as crews will be on site to work on this quick response project.
