Tuesday was National Strolling Thunder Day! GEEARS and @ZEROTOTHREE teamed up at the U.S. Capitol to raise the voices of parents, child care providers, and more. We delivered nearly 250 letters to Georgia’s U.S. senators and representatives about the joyful, challenging, enterprise of raising a young child in our state today. These letters—written during GEEARS’ Georgia-based Strolling Thunder in January—leverage powerful stories to call for policy change and added investment in early childhood. You can join these advocates! Click here to attend the Virtual Strolling Thunder Rally on June 16th: thinkbabies.org/stro.../part…

GEEARS has submitted an official public comment on the recently released Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) titled Restoring Flexibility to Support Head Start Program Access. Our message is clear: expanding access must go hand‑in‑hand with supporting the Head Start workforce that makes high‑quality early learning possible. Read our full comment and learn why compensation, benefits, and stability matter for Georgia’s children and families. geears.org/news/geears-offic…

From the moment a baby is born, their parent or caregiver becomes an advocate. When that child has a disability or developmental delay, advocacy can escalate into a full-time job. Our latest SaportaReport column shows parents that when you advocate for your child, you can make change for many! Click here to read: saportareport.com/the-power-…

Congratulations to GEEARS staff members Gbemi Famule and Caitlyn Sanders on completing the Georgia Children's Cabinet 2Gen Academy! They spent the past year building leadership skills, collaborating with partners across state agencies, and exploring strategies to support children and families.

The @MSRC_ATL launched at the @HighMuseumofArt, this morning with baguettes and spaghetti flying through the air! That’s what happens when your partner in promoting early literacy is the whimsical @alliancetheatre reading (and giving away!) their original picture book, “DINOSAUR!” Thank you to the early learning programs and families who brought their little ones to the most delightfully wild read-aloud in MSRC history and to all our other attendees: Our community partners and board members, @AtlSpeechSchool, Andrew L. Gray from @andreforatlanta, and Cristel Williams of our generous funder, @PNCBank. MSRC partners will spend the summer celebrating “DINOSAUR” with programming all over the city. Family-friendly policies are a must-have for organizations aiming to hire and retain employees and boost productivity and profits. So, GEEARS and several partners recently cohosted a leadership forum full of stories and data about such polices and their serious ROI. We heard from @BestPlace4WP and the @USCCFoundation and awarded @alliancetheatre's innovative approach to child care for its artists. And we wrote about it all in our latest @SaportaReport column! To show our community that #GANeedsChildCare, we’ve asked providers from around the state to share about their experiences, challenges, and needs. Kaitlyn Huffman, a lead teacher in a two-year-old class in Marietta, hopes for more training to help students who are on the autism spectrum or have other special needs. To hear more stories like Kaitlyn’s, click here: geears.org/ganeedschildcare/
