Congratulations to @gmblohberger on great match and win against a formidable and very likeable opponent, David Navatra. Very controlled match (except for the wild game 4!) and a very professional approach. The road to 2600 shouldn't be too long if continued like this!

The quality of your decisions depends on the precision of your calculations. I write about this in my latest post. When you see an obvious mistake by a GM it's not that they missed something elementary, it's always something beneath the surface.

The first candidate move is so tempting because it gives relief. You no longer have to think. But if you play it too quickly, you never train the real decision-making muscle. The Method helps by forcing proper comparison before commitment to the move you play.

I watched some of your commentary today and you and Michiel Abeln make a terrific team. I really like how both of you give opportunities to each other to speak. Plus the stories! Great stuff.

Summer should be for chilling, but @chessable had a better idea and called it "chess chilling." A massive summer sale until 17th of June of a huge amount of excellent courses. Don't miss this one out, folks, you can chill and study chess all summer!

If the 5th game is anything similar to the 4th, we're in for a wild ride! A wonderful match so far, I hope this format becomes more common, especially as Felix makes his way to 2600!

A lot of online chess feels active, but leads to no learning. You play, forget and repeat. The same mistakes occur because nothing was extracted from them. The Method helps by requiring a post-session review, so experience helps learning and you don't waste time.

Mindboggling game 4 of the match between @gmblohberger and David Navara. At the end reminded me of the famous 4-queen ending of the Fischer-Petrosian game from the Candidates in 1959. As in that game, both players missed chances, a proof again that a draw can be more fascinating than many wins.

The problem with “just one game” is that it is never really "one" game. It is a negotiation and the weaker side of character wins. The Method helps by setting the session before the first move is played, not after the addiction has started taking over.

If a player doesn't want to play, no amount of money will convince him to, it is just an excuse. Because, he literally doesn't care, right?
🇺🇸 Hikaru Nakamura: "We are one decade later and the amount of money you get is exactly the same" Hikaru Nakamura on why he won't play in the 2026 Olympiad: "The offer to play the Olympiad was $10,000. Or sorry, $10,500 I believe is what it was. The bonus if you win a gold medal is $4,000. That's it. When I played the Olympiad in 2016, I believe it was in Baku, we won the gold medal and you know what the bonus was? It was $4,000." "We are one decade later and the amount of money you get is exactly the same as it was 10 years ago. I don't know if people have heard but there's this thing called inflation... third world countries pay their players better, no kidding. It's legitimately the same bonus that it was 10 years ago." "To answer all the questions that you guys are asking, for the Olympiad I don't intend to play."

Replying to @GMAlexColovic
GM Colovic offers the type of insight I would associate with a notable clinical psychologist. Little wonder why he is so successful as a chess coach.

Many players think their online games are keeping them sharp. Often, they are just keeping the nervous system restless. Fast moves, instant pairings, emotional swings, no reflection. The Method helps by making online chess serve training instead of emotional imbalance.
