Alright, I have to come out and admit to being a huge LARPer. I consider myself a massive GiTS fan: I watched the movies, SAC and Arise multiple times, I even emulated the PS2 game. I only read the manga once, years ago, and the second volume is still in its original wrapper lol.

Mostly saying this because I'm finishing my reread of Volume 1. I want to finally read MMI in anticipation of the upcoming new anime, just in case it includes some stuff from that manga.

Yeah, I'm sure some vet is gonna tell me that this is bad yadda yadda not a balanced nutrition, but come on. It must've been really hungry considering how quickly it took the food. I've seen these cats before and they usually run away if you get within like 10 meters of them.

My attempt to go to university in the US might be over before it even started. You see, I went from a really shitty school to an elite school for High School and my grades never really caught up. Like, my HS grades are straight up ass, makes me look like a functional retard.

I got 60 on math on all years of HS, that's basically a D in american terms. Meanwhile, my math score in Brazil's SAT equivalent is an average of 830 across all 4 times I took it, which would be a B. The uni I'm applying for wants my HS history with all my Ds, not my test scores.

Oh, by the way, that's 830 out of 1000. I think the SAT goes up to 1600, so that'd be the equivalent of 1330. This doesn't exactly make me a genius but it doesn't make me an absolute moron either.

Ironically enough, my chances to enter uni would be higher if I never left my old school. Everyone there was, in fact, retarded. It was barely above a public school in terms of quality and I was getting straight As. God fucking dammit. I feel like such a dumbass right now.

I was told to work outta nowhere today (I don't work on Mondays) and they made me work for 12 hours straight. Then I called the boss and asked about when I should come in tomorrow: "Boiler's fucked, we're not working all week". Damn, once again I got some free time outta nowhere.

Sure would be nice if I had my rudder pedals during this free week, they were supposed to arrive today but simply didn't. I'll give it two more days until I call USPS or VKB to figure out where the hell my package's at (Supposedly left Jacksonville 4 days ago).

Having said my piece about modelling with a purpose: I do have another Cyberpunk 2020 one-shot coming up in a few weeks, so I guess my lower effort models will make a comeback for a while. That counts as a purpose, right?

I've been hit by the sudden realization that all my modelling is pointless. I model just for the sake of modelling. I don't animate, I don't have a game, I only render sometimes and I rarely even finish things. Have this throttle, it'll be the last of the tiltrotor for now.

Sure, it was just a render of a random tower accompanied by some vague worldbuilding. But it was a finished piece, much like what you'd get with a finished drawing. Making model upon model and not even rendering it is like having piles of sketches but no drawings.

From now on I'll try to model with a purpose. I'll still make random models, sure, but only if there's something to learn from making said model. Learning is still a purpose, after all. With many of my current models I'm just repeating things that I already know, that's no good.

I ended up not modelling anything today, instead I decided to play around with volume materials in order to see if I can get some God rays. I got some on my previous render, but honestly it feels like such a crapshot. I don't know how everyone else does it.

When people do it, their scenes stay clear and they get the rays anyway. As if they were being scattered by light dust or haze, not by Industrial Revolution London smog. I'll have to experiment with it a bit more later, tomorrow I just want to do some normal modelling.

I do seem to get much more coherent rays if I use an Area Light instead of a Sun, if anything. Maybe that's the big secret here? Should I just be faking my rays with Area Lights instead of using the Sun and letting emergent behaviour make them?
