We have been making most of the wet weather by using it to help with our mud kitchen creations! We created a restaurant and spend time working as a team to create each dish.
In maths this week we have been continuing our learning around position and direction. We have been looking at maps and describing the different points on a map using positional language. During choosing time some of us chose to create our own maps. ๐บ๏ธ
We love visiting the library on Friday afternoon! We take our time to look carefully at the books before selecting the one we would like to take home. ๐
We have been digging up potatoes in our garden area and the children have been very enthusiastic about it. The children then enjoyed washing and preparing them ready for cooking. They have loved exploring nature and working practically outside. ๐ฅ

Today in Hazel class we have been using positional language to make patterns and then describe how to make the patterns to our friends without them seeing it. We had to think carefully about the language we used and we enjoyed seeing if each other had got it right. ๐
This week we have been learning about animals that live in the canopy layer of the rainforest, including the blue morpho butterfly and the toucan. Inspired by this, we created our own butterflies in the creative area! ๐ฆ
In maths this week we have been learning about positional language. We created our own scenes and then used positional language to describe the scene to our friends. โThe ant is on top of the tower.โ โThe pig is under the block.โ
What a fabulous morning we have had at our sports day! We all worked like Resilient Rita to complete all of the activities and run as fast as we could during the races ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ฅ Thank you to all of the parents who were able to join us and cheer us on! โจ
Today we had a visit from the Paralympic athlete Kylie Grimes. The children enjoyed meeting her, listening to her story as well as trying out different training exercises. The highlight was looking at her shiny gold medal that she won in the Olympics. ๐ฅ๐
During maths this afternoon we read โPattern Fishโ. We tried hard to spot as many patterns as we could on each page. We were then inspired to create our own patterns using lots of different resources in the classroom. Some of us even created our own โPattern Fishโ page!
This week we have been learning about the layers of the rainforest ๐ดAt the creative table we created the different layers using a variety of resources ๐๏ธ Can you name the different layers of the rainforest?
I stumbled upon the children todayโฆ they had found some books in the writing area and independently chose to all sit down and write a story each. They talked enthusiastically about their stories and laughed together ๐
In maths this week we have been learning how to share numbers equally. During choosing time some children chose practise their new learning independently.
Today I enjoyed the children showcasing their learning in a way of their choice. One child enjoyed drawing and correctly naming the layers of the ocean, another sorting animals on a Venn diagram and finally a Minecraft inspired house. Super showcasing in Hazel class. Well done ๐
The children in Hazel class have enjoyed exploring the new jungle themed explorer resources so far this week and we have had some wild representations of the animals in the classroom tooโฆ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ธ
Today we enjoyed a fabulous workshop hosted by @WildFangsUK We learnt facts about different wild animals including what they eat and their natural habitat. We were lucky enough to hold the animals if we wanted to. Our favourite animal was Cleo the royal python ๐
