CSS Dissertation Award
The Comics Studies Society will award one prize for an exceptional dissertation in the field of Comics Studies defended in the past three calendar years (January 1 to December 31). The 2024 CSS Prize cycle will therefore evaluate theses and dissertations defended between January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The deadline for nomination, which must include a report from the nominating program, is April 22, 2024.
The thesis or dissertation must have two or more chapters focusing on comics studies themes.
A thesis or dissertation may only be submitted once for the CSS Dissertation Prize.

In collaboration with Michigan State University, the Comics Studies Society is pleased to announce the launch of a generous annual program to support graduate student research in the MSU Library Comic Art Collection through the MSU Libraries Summer Research Grant.
CSS welcomes applications from Graduate Student Caucus members currently enrolled in a program of graduate study: these will be reviewed by CSS and two will be forwarded to the MSU library for this generous support. Based on MSU Library criteria, they will identify a single award of $3000 from the two applications forwarded by CSS.

Applicants must be current members of the Comics Studies Society and enrolled in a graduate program.
CSS especially encourages applications from un/underrepresented and marginalized scholars and/or scholars whose work addresses an underrepresented group and/or historically marginalized identity.
Applications to CSS are due by January 22, 2024.

Following an evaluation period by both CSS and MSU, award recipients will be notified by mid-March 2024.
What to submit: A cover letter, a CV of no more than six pages, 2-page description of research, first/second choice of dates in residence, and letter of rec from a professional and/or academic reference.
