GREENSBORO, NC (June 5, 2026) โ Greensboro Police arrested a 49-year-old man Thursday night in connection with recent thefts and vandalism at the Guilford County Veterans Memorial in Country Park.
On May 27, 2026, officers responded to a report from the Guilford County Veterans Memorial Board regarding stolen plaques and bronze lettering from the memorial at 3905 Nathanael Greene Drive. A second incident was reported on May 29 by City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation staff, involving additional plaques taken from the same location.
Surveillance images captured in Country Park were circulated during the investigation. On June 4, Greensboro Police submitted the images to Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers to request public assistance in identifying a man seen in the images. Later that evening, a citizen identified the suspect, leading officers to Roger Lee Brown Jr. of Greensboro.
Brown was taken into custody and charged with felony larceny (NCGS 14-71), possession of stolen property (NCGS 14-71.1), and unrelated narcotics offenses. He was taken to the Guilford County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Earlier today, investigators recovered many of the stolen plaques from a local scrap metal business that cooperated with the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
