Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I'm not American, though I wish I was in the US right now enjoying some turkey.
Still, I wanna mention some things I'm thankful for, related to
@kamigotchiworld. This is a short story about my path.
Back in Spring 2022
@0xl3th3 dm'd me apropos something I wrote on another Twitter account. I don't remember exactly what.
But she mentioned a game that had been in the planning stage for a while already. Was I interested in coming onboard to do some writing? Yes, of course.
I'd held cryptocurrency for a long time at that point, but without really engaging with it. At that point I had just finished a second university course in Literature History, then doing a summer course on the history of Epidemics. Nothing materialised in the ways of work at that point, and I took two courses in Art History for the fall and spring semester of 2022 and 2023 respectively. Studying at the university was incredibly rewarding, getting constant positive feedback on everything I wrote. I don't wanna brag, but I got the highest mark on all but two assignments (out of 20) during those stints.
In the late summer of 2023
@kamigotchiworld got some funding and I was brought on to do writing, and a few other things. Working for
@kamigotchiworld has since been a lot like university. Lethe's engagement with the work was that of a teacher, somehow able to oversee and juggle every part of the company while pushing and improving the performance of every involved person.
I started studying at the onset of the pandemic, and afterwards continued taking remote courses, so I completely missed out on the community you'd normally get. But by being involved with
@kamigotchiworld I found that in web3. Before the release through my co-workers, and now since May this year through the community of fanatics we've built.
I returned from
@EFDevcon in Buenos Aires two days ago. The whole time I was there, I missed the energy on Discord and in-game. I missed my second family, all the viewers and users who attend my weekly stream. I just wanted to be there for them. I wished they were in BA with me, drinking and smoking cigarettes exploring a new city.
I never thought I'd get into the crypto space like this. But I'm so happy I did. I got into crypto in a similar way, when I went against my instincts to reject anything that seemed to come at me too fast. You gotta take a chance when it presents itself to you. Step out of your comfort zone and meet the world. I'm old and for me crypto and the
@kamigotchiworld community resembles the life I lived on online forums in my teens.
I'm so thankful I get to relive that again with my team and everyone in the community. I'm thankful for all you being here every day, whether you have some issues I can help solve or just post a funny observation, I feel right at home.
Ever since I joined the project
@0xl3th3 has taken stock of my strengths, pushing me forward. To realise your full potential you need someone to hold up a mirror. I’m now fully focused on BD, a role that lets me both contribute to the existing community and that encourages me to engage with the wider crypto gaming community bring in new faithfuls to a part of the internet that I had long thought was lost, but has been reborn in the new wave of on-chain games.
After I felt done with university, I thought I'd be forever alone in my creative struggles, but I found
@kamigotchiworld and a community greater than all that's been before in my life.
I will be forever grateful for this opportunity, and may it last for the rest of my life.
So, a great thank you to every single one of you who read this tweet and thus are part of both mine and
@kamigotchiworld's journey.
