Discipline isn’t punishment. Discipline is putting your future self first. Discipline today shows that you’re more concerned about future growth than today’s comfort.
Daily discipline makes us stronger for tomorrow. Otherwise, we weaken each day until we break.
Kids, you can’t learn about something when you think you already know it all.
Be open & curious if you want to keep learning and improving.

Most coaches/trainers have a lot of knowledge. The challenge isn’t as much about how much we know as it is about knowing how and when to use it.
Contrary to popular belief, we don’t have to be talking & instructing nonstop to be effective and a “great” coach.
@GBACoach
COACHES: You have to love your players if you want to win more and want them to succeed more.
And…do your players know they don’t have to win to be loved?
PARENTS: Same with your kids.
Love is unconditional. Never base on performance. @GAShotCoach
How much we do when we don’t feel like it, both mentally and physically, will determine our level of success. FYI, a lot of the time we won’t feel like it. @GAShotCoach@APositiveCoach@GaBballAcademy
The purpose of practice is to improve game performance. If that’s not happening then maybe you should change up how practice is conducted.
You are getting exactly the %s you should be getting based on your current practice design.
@GBACoach
Kids, you can’t outperform poor nutrition, poor sleep, and even poor relationships.
Those naturally talented & athletic may fool themselves thinking they can get away with it in the short-term but it will eventually stifle their level of growth & success.
@GAShotCoach
Our success is NOT a result of motivation or confidence but from the environment & environmental cues in which we surround ourselves.
Want to eat better? Get the crap out that prevents it. Want to sleep more & better? Get screens out of the room?
Rocket science? Nope.
It’s not the event or action that messes us up but rather how we think about it.
We have the CHOICE to see something, to think about it as good, bad, indifferent or whatever.
How we think about it can affect us immediately and into the future more than the event.
When we “like” a flower we pick it to use for our short-term, personal gratification. When we “love” it, we water it everyday and provide all it needs to flourish & thrive to be the best it can be not just for ourselves but for others for as long as possible. @APositiveCoach
If every time I talk to a player they are thinking I’m either going to correct or tell them how to do something then I’ve been over-coaching. @GAShotCoach
Parents: Is it Difficult or Dangerous?
If it’s dangerous (physical, emotional, mental abuse), then step in.
If it’s simply difficult, then allow your child to work through it (with your help IF ASKED). This will build resilience and strengthen them for the next challenge.
