For the record, when I had a restraining order against my own father in high school, I was glad there were some teachers who were willing to protect me from his "parental rights" I'll always be grateful to them for making school feel like a safer place for me.
Do the "parental rights" folks watch Matilda and cheer on Danny DeVito instead of Miss Honey

If the reason we can’t have unisex bathrooms is that men aren’t trustworthy, might I suggest the problem is not really the bathrooms?

And I don’t care whether it was a scheduled or charter flight. Public address systems on licensed aircraft using public air traffic control and under public regulation ought not to be providing political platforms.
Um, Westjet? You just lost a customer forever. Common carriers shouldn’t be hosting neofascists. 🍁🙄😤🙄🍁 @WestJet

I should be surprised, but I’m really not, about just how few people mentioned the Modi government’s authoritarianism as why there have been tensions with Trudeau. #PnPCBC

Canada: a country where certain people scream at the idea of investing in things serious countries have, (like a modern aircraft for the Prime Minister, in this case) and then call us an unserious country for not having those things when they prove inadequate
UPDATE: Trudeau could leave New Delhi Tuesday afternoon at the earliest. Govt sources say a technician is on its way with a part to fix the issue. A backup plane will also arrive in New Delhi tomorrow in case it can’t be fixed. And a backup, backup plane will be in London. thecanadianpressnews.ca/poli…

It’s no secret I’m not a Liberal but in 2002 Jean Chrétien made the decision to keep Canada out of the War in Iraq. Saving the lives of many Canadians and putting us on the right side of history. A proud moment. x.com/noahanicholls/status/1…

Has @ChantalHbert been appointed to the Order of Canada yet? Because she should definitely be in there.

It’s clear that in most cases, what use to be reputable media outlets are now selling clicks to the highest bidder. I guess we’re moving to Fox News of the north. What’s their choice, gaslight or bankruptcy?

It’s a shame that this passes as journalism and is validated by a major political leader.
Putting partisanship aside, no one likes to see a Canadian prime minister repeatedly humiliated & trampled upon by the rest of the world.

Poilievre is pulling this number out of thin air. Having helped run a surplus property evaluation for the Fed Govt there are not this number of properties to sell. Unless he is planning massive cuts & even more massive layoffs…even then the majority are in the capital region/1

Poll after poll shows the Conservatives with a huge lead, as the party meets in convention in Quebec City. Can anything stop Poilievre? @ChantalHbert and @bruceanderson have their thoughts. Noon EST on @SXMCanadaTalks, all podcast platforms, or YT. 📍youtu.be/jgm8I6jc6hM

Unemployment rate during a labour shortage remaining the same as 2019 is hardly newsworthy. The most interesting thing about it is that 5.5% of working age Canadians are unable or unwilling to work.

Interesting as the Reform Party used to have such a system back in the days…
There is a point of order, a man says the delegates should see the majority of the votes and what regions voted in favour. There should be a graphic. The party says it is working on it.

I think it would be better if our political debate stayed closer to the facts. You can oppose the carbon tax without blaming it for every bit of economic trouble we face.

This is not the driver of food price inflation. Climate-related drought is the driver of food price inflation.
BoC governor Tiff Macklem, speaking at Calgary Chamber, asked about impact of carbon tax on inflation. Annually, its impact on prices works out to about 0.15%, Macklem says

Pierre Poilievre thinks the answer to our housing crisis is for government to "get out of the way". But as his own arguments inadvertently show, what we really need is for government to get back in the game. #cdnpoli nationalobserver.com/2023/09…
