Mount Fletcher, Eastern Cape:
Alwande Mhlanga was a 9-year-old Grade 4 student from Tsolobeng village in Mount Fletcher. Tragically, she was brutally murdered in her sleep at home on the night of Wednesday, March 11, 2026. According to her grandmother, she heard a loud bang on the door of their one-room hut. When she looked up, she saw the door wide open and two men standing over them.
Confused and in shock, she asked the men who they were and what they wanted. One of the men responded, telling the elderly woman to "watch and learn." As she struggled to understand the situation, she noticed a group of men outside. Again, she inquired about their intentions, and one of the men accused her of being a witch. Another man informed her that they were there to take her granddaughter's life and that she would be forced to watch as a lesson.
In a horrifying act, one of the men repeatedly struck Alwande with an axe while another man held her grandmother at knifepoint, ensuring that she witnessed the brutal scene.
Seven weeks have passed, and no one has been arrested for this incident. 💔
