Sometimes, you just have to brave the elements and get out there! Even if the weather isn't ideal, it's worth it. Just look at this view of Loch Affric and surrounding hills. This taken just before a costly injury.

Here is the second snapshot in our Friday photo series, illustrating the advantages of reflecting on past experiences. Captured in the heart of the Trossachs, this magnificent loop is a sight to behold. Can anyone identify this location? #gallusrunning #VisitScotland #runscotland

It's amazing how long it can take to do one 'simple' technical change. The GPX files have been updated to include the directions, length and elevation on all the markers. This information used to be in the db, but this makes editing easier and files more compatible.

New: added distance markers to route descriptions. These in either KMs or miles and can be changed using the SWAP link on the top right of each page on the site. Hovering over the elevation chart will place a marker on the map indcating where on the route it is.

We have added in a few more short routes onto the site with work focusing on technical improvements in the background (what a lot of effort that takes). Summaries on the Features page. gallusrunning.com/features

New event for 2024. Run by Helensburgh AAC this is the Trident 10K on trail and hill on the 14th September 2024. Given the way the Helensburgh 10K and the To Hel n Back are run this should be a great event. gallusrunning.com/trident10k

Following our first visit up to the lovely Crinan we've added a couple of routes, a hilly one and a very flat one. Guess which was on the canal path 😃. Both are at the top of the Features page. gallusrunning.com/features

Think this will be my last big road run marathon. Not really where the heart is anymore. Last night at the expo wasn’t too bad apart from them hiding the exit.

Glad to hear the Cove and Kilcreaggan 10K and 5ks are back again this year. 2023 was the first, though you would never know it, and a great race (10K). Not one for a PB unless it's your first. Sunday 9th June. gallusrunning.com/cove10K

If you are going to do a Scottish road half marathon then the Harris Half Marathon is the one to do. Friendly, wonderful views and guaranteed sunshine (maybe ?). Not one for a PB but who cares - brilliant !! Saturday 6th July 2024 gallusrunning.com/harrishalf
