Super proud of this show, the school tour , and everything achieved. Making a show for all- bigging up parts of south west london - Merton- that is a secret hub of magic and creativity - and doing so in a way that doesn’t patronise or talk down to Young people! And as a cast of global majority and WC creatives from places like Sutton, Mitcham and Croydon - being able to create in our own creative lyrical lexicon has meant that the show resonates with a larger demographic and uses language in a way that we revere the bard for doing so himself. - fun, witty , irreverent and sick. …ok …onto the next show !

Hip hop theatre is an expression of hip hop culture inter-sectioned within theatre. It is not your new mixtape onstage . You have to create and write for the medium. This is where rap within theatre falls down. It is an incredible and effective skill, technique and art form. But you need to understand what and why you are using it.

Being an artist saved my life. I used to go to great Ormond street to see psychiatrists because they believed I would hurt myself. IF it wasn’t for a social worker - and a list of people working in the theatre who were doing the work that social services do - I don’t like to think what my outcomes would have been. This is why it makes me sad that kids from social housing , social services are not brought into the arts more. There are a lot of people working in this industry but where are those people? It is impossible for people at the top to understand any of this . It’s not like we don’t have stories to tell and character to play…I mean… you fuckers keep using em!
