Thailand Officially Becomes "Partner Country" at Gamescom 2025 — The World's Leading Game Showcase Government and Private Sector Join Forces to Support Thai Game Industry on the Global Stage! The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, has announced a major milestone for Thailand’s gaming industry. Thailand has been officially selected as the Partner Country at Gamescom 2025, the world’s largest video game trade fair, which will be held in Cologne, Germany, from August 20–24, 2025. This recognition underscores Thailand's growing potential and remarkable progress in the global gaming arena. A Golden Opportunity for Thai Developers: Showcasing Talent and Reaching Global Media Ms. Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director-General of DITP, stated: "Being named Partner Country this year opens the door for Thailand to establish a dedicated Thailand Pavilion in a prominent location at Gamescom 2025. This will allow Thai-made games to shine on the global stage while also expressing unique elements of Thai culture to international visitors." This year, DITP will bring 15 Thai game companies to exhibit their high-quality creations, aiming to enhance the country’s image, build global business networks, meet investors, and unlock new market opportunities. More importantly, this event gives Thai developers unparalleled access to global gaming media, including top-tier online platforms, print outlets, and mainstream publications. This will help amplify Thai game titles internationally and drive significant momentum for future growth. It’s a rare golden opportunity for Thai game studios and developers to gain international exposure. A New Phenomenon in Thailand: Gamescom Asia × Thailand Game Show — Debuts in Bangkok! But that’s not all! To build on this global success and strengthen the regional game development ecosystem, key organizations—including DITP, the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), the National Soft Power Strategy Committee (THACCA), the Thai Game Software Industry Association (TGA), and other partners—are coming together to launch a major international gaming event in Thailand for the first time: Gamescom Asia × Thailand Game Show 2025 Venue: Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok Dates: October 16–19, 2025 This mega event will span over 30,000 square meters and feature a wide range of activities, including thrilling esports tournaments, an indie game zone, cosplay contests, and many other entertainment segments, welcoming attendees from across Asia and beyond. Why Thailand Is Emerging as the Future Hub of the Global Gaming Industry: 📌Fast-Growing Market: Thailand has over 32 million gamers, nearly half of its population, making it one of the fastest-growing gaming markets in Asia. The market is expected to double by 2033. 📌Rising Spending Power: Thai gamers increased their in-game spending by 16% in 2024, which is four times higher than the global average. 📌Esports Powerhouse: With strong backing from the government and the Thailand Esports Federation, esports has gained official recognition since 2021, with thriving national leagues and numerous international events hosted in Thailand. 📌Outstanding Developers: Thailand ranks #2 in Southeast Asia for game development, with 158 Thai games published on Steam in 2024, a six-fold increase from 2019 — a result of persistent government support and startup incubator programs. DITP is confident that Thailand’s participation as Partner Country at Gamescom 2025, along with the launch of Gamescom Asia × Thailand Game Show 2025, will mark a turning point in elevating the Thai game industry to become a formidable global contender in the international gaming market.

Announcing the Grand Achievement: Thai Soft Power in Gaming On April 2, 2025, an official press conference was held to announce @gamescomasia x @TGS_2024 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Koelnmesse, the event organizer, and TGA - Thai Game Software Industry Association. This agreement marks a significant milestone, officially elevating Thailand to the status of Official Partner Country. To maximize the benefits of this event for the Thai gaming industry, the organizers will set up a Thai Pavilion dedicated exclusively to Thai game industry professionals. This ensures that all Thai developers and businesses have the opportunity to take part in this world-class gaming expo. During the event, Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee, delivered an inspiring speech reaffirming Thailand’s commitment to becoming a leader in the gaming industry. He emphasized his strong belief in the potential of the new generation and the power of gaming as a key driver to propel Thai soft power onto the global stage. This landmark Gamescom Asia X Thailand Game Show is made possible through the collaboration of various sectors. To establish Thailand as the gaming hub of Southeast Asia! Hosting Gamescom Asia will bring incredible benefits to the local gaming scene. It opens doors for Thai game developers and businesses to connect with global industry leaders, gain access to cutting-edge technology, and attract major international investments. Early estimates suggest that the event will generate around 1.925 billion THB in economic value, including revenue from international visitors, opportunities for local game studios, and long-term business growth.
