All of my ganodermas cultures from #TerrestrialFungi came in and looked beautiful! I have been enjoying running agar growth rate trials and designing molds. Growth rate trials on wood substrate are beginning this weekend. But first I must back up my backup slants!

I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas, except this year Santa is dropping off Ganoderma cultures instead of toys!

Today I am writing my first official standard operating procedure for my new experiment. I've done the literature reviews and synthesized what I believe will work best based on my goals, now I just have to write it up and test it out! 🤓

I am incredibly fortunate to be allowed this much freedom in the lab as an undergrad. Let's hope I don't mess it up for those who come after me lol

Calling mycophiles far a wide, I am working on a research project to determine growth rates and mechanical properties of ganoderma biocomposite materials. I am currently on the market for plate and slant cultures of every ganoderma I can find. This is where you come in.

This Conocybe caught my eye from a distance. It led me to the perfect spot to relax.

I think I found #AmanitaMuscaria var. guessowii. I had the pleasure of watching them mature this week. I'm sure they are amanita, but there are a few similar species. In the end, muscaria #guessowii was my guess, oh weeeeeee! PNW, US near conifers trees. #fungi #mushroom #hongos

This year was a wild ride at WSU. In the chaos, the taxidermy floor of the library quickly became one of my favorite places.

I worked my buns off and earned a few awards. I also met some amazing friends and mentors to help me through. And I've earned my Cougar calves walking uphill both ways to class!

Working on my bioengineering and biochemistry dual major has taught me the value of time management and planning for fun! Now that the sun is back, I'm ready to go into lizard mode for a couple months. If you need me, I'll be laying in the sun.
