Good post. At 79 my biggest gripe about all the longevity/health/fitness influencers on X. They haven’t experienced the aging process and are clueless what awaits them in old age. Many won’t even make it to 80 much less in good health. You can practice all the longevity protocols in your younger years but that won’t necessarily protect you from the pitfalls of aging.

Elephant Head Arch in the backcountry at Mammoth Cave National Park. At one time virtually unknown. Then came social media putting up its coordinates and not so unknown. Hiked there today. Last off trail adventure of the season till next November. The ticks and snakes are out in force with the unseasonably warm spring.

One is probably born with a pre-set limit on life. You probably can´t stretch it more, but you can certainly shorten it with a bad lifestyle.

I'm 100% in agreement that any claims of radical longevity being "scientific" or coming soon (~10-20 years) are nothing short of wishful thinking. People seem to forget history (see below, from Prolongevity II (1985), by Albert Rosenfeld), and similar claims are being made today.

A rarely seen photo of the inside of Owl Cave at Mammoth Cave National Park. Above at its entrance it is gated to protect the bats and prehistoric Indian artifacts inside.

Spring is in the air and soon my backyard will look like this - redbuds galore. I actually have planted more since this photo from a few years ago.

Frozen waterfalls off trail at my local National Park. Unfortunately this is from a few years ago. Can’t access it now because the area it is located is closed tighter than a drum by the Park Service because of the ice and snow.

A small waterfall originating from a cave at Mammoth Cave National Park. Another rarely seen waterfalls I have all to myself because it is off trail and known to only a few.

An off trail backcountry waterfalls at Mammoth Cave National Park. This one is becoming more and more difficult to access each year because of rock slides and tree fall. Photo credit to Tyler Warner of Warner Outdoors Photography. Tyler is one of a few of us that venture off trail exploring for waterfalls, caves, rock shelters, and arches.

A waterfall flowing over a cave at my favorite National Park. Off trail in the middle of nowhere.

One of my favorite places to visit when I am in North Carolina. As with most of my special places this one offers total solitude. Albeit, you have to be aware of bears.

This is a double waterfalls that empties into a cave at the bottom. Best to see after heavy rains. Like all waterfalls at Mammoth Cave National Park you have it all to yourself because it is off trail in the middle of nowhere.

One of my special places. Total and complete solitude. Off trail in the middle of nowhere. This roaring waterfall flows over a small rock shelter and into a cave. If you live life right when you are young, old age can be the absolute best time of your life.

It’s that time of the year again. Off trail and backcountry hiking at Mammoth Cave National Park in search of waterfalls, caves, rock shelters, arches, and abandoned homesteads.

10% consistently profitable? I would say more like 1% if even that. I knew many brokers at several Clayton Brokerage offices back in the days and consistently profitable futures traders were about non existent. I believe Stanley Kroll said the same thing.
In 1975 studies showed that about 10% of futures traders were consistently profitable, about 2% profitable enough to make trading their livelihood. There was no internet and little educational resources then. Guess what, the same results exist today. So much for progress

How I Made $2,000,000 In The Stock Market by Darvas

Remember when the market was closed on Wednesday the last six or seven months of 1968 because of a paperwork crisis/backlog?
One thing to be thankful for: The stock market isn’t open Saturdays any more. (Not since 1952…)
