𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 Edwards (6-1/190) transferred to Austin Peay a few months ago after a successful two years at Division II North Greenville University (SC).. This past season, Edwards recored 29 tackles, six pass breakups, and one tackle for a loss. He has three years of eligibility remaining. It has been a quick transition from a small school standout to big-name prospect for Edwards. As he chose Maryland over offers from Iowa, Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Michigan State among other schools. The Terps are known for their player devoplment and having an eye for under the radar talent and this young man fits that description. Edwards combines position versatility (ability to line up all over the secondary) with length, athleticism, FB IQ and developmental upside. He displays advanced read and diagnose skills and loves to hit. Edwards covers a lot of ground, is quick to react with the ball anywhere near him and will lay the hammer delivering punishing blows on receivers and ball carriers, alike. The small-town to the big stage vibes are real with this one. The Terps needed additional help on the backend of their defense, given both last year starting safeties (Dante Trader Jr., -Miami Dolphins) and (Glendon Miller - Kansas City Chiefs) are off to the NFL.
