I am deeply humbled to be one of the eight honorees representing eight Asian countries (China, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Korea, Turkey, and the Philippines), who were each recognized for their outstanding contributions to their respective country’s respective fields.
It is indeed a great privilege to represent Nepal, and this has further inspired me to enhance Nepal-US bilateral relations for democratic, liberal and prosperous Nepal.

पपुलिजम, अनुदारवाद, उग्रराष्ट्रवाद र अतिवादको कारणले विश्वव्यापी रूपमा नै लोकतान्त्रिक प्रणाली, उदारवाद र वहुलवादी समाजमाथि गम्भीर संकट सिर्जना भइरहेको समयमा अब्राहम लिङ्कनको प्रतिमासँग!
रिपब्लिकन पार्टीबाट पहिलो निर्वाचित राष्ट्रपति लिङ्कन (१८६१ देखि १८६५ सम्म) ले अमेरिकी गृहयुद्धको समयमा सन् १८६३ नोभेम्बर १९ मा गेटिसवर्गमा गरेको ऐतिहासिक सम्बोधनको क्रममा गरेको लोकतन्त्रको परिभाषा नै सर्वमान्य परिभाषाको रुपमा स्थापित भएको छ।
लिङ्कनका अनुसार लोकतन्त्र भनेको: Government of the people, by the people and for the people. अर्थात् लोकतन्त्र भनेको जनताको, जनताद्वारा र जनताका लागि बनेको सरकार हो।
अमेरिकाको सिकागो सहरको Grant Park मा रहेको लिङ्कनको प्रतिमा!
Grant Park त्यही पार्क हो, जहाँबाट राष्ट्रपति निर्वाचित भएपछि बाराक ओबामाले नोभेम्बर ४, २००८ मा दुई लाख ५० हजार भन्दा धेरै अमेरिकी नागरिकको प्रत्यक्ष उपस्थितिमा ऐतिहासिक विजय मन्तव्य दिएका थिए!
