People keep asking: who am I? My name is Bert Mizusawa. I was born in Hawaii but raised and have lived most of my life in Virginia. I have a lovely wife and wonderful kids who have been supporting me graciously on this campaign. I got my education from West Point finishing first in my class. Then I attended Harvard Law School earning a Juris Doctor and a Master of Public Policy. I served in the army for 36 years, achieving the rank of Major General along with awards such as the Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal, and the Legion of Merit. I was also an attorney, giving me a background in law and politics. I've gained experience in legislative work when I was appointed the role of Professional Staff Member in the Senate for the GOP in the late 90s. My strength has been in foreign policy where I helped shape and author key elements of the Trump foreign policy doctrine, which became central to the administration's approach. Now I'm running for Senate to unseat a 17-year incumbent who promised to only run 2 terms.

I appreciate the questions, and I'm glad to answer them. I am committed to reviving manufacturing in places like Henry and Patrick counties by cutting regulations and taxes that drive jobs away, drawing from my business experience and work simplifying complex government processes. Deporting illegal immigrants will ease housing pressures and protect our communities, which is why I support the actions being taken by the current administration. I will always defend Second Amendment rights without compromise as someone who has sworn to uphold the Constitution. Expanding nuclear power makes sense to lower utility bills and provide reliable, safe energy for families and businesses across the state. My extensive background in leadership in law, policy, and service equips me to deliver these domestic results while keeping Virginia secure.

Native Virginian here. First, thank you for your service! I checked out your wiki page and you have a very impressive record, especially on foreign policy, and that's important. TBH Virginians are yearning for someone to represent their interests in D.C. We want a senator who is more interested in bringing back manufacturing to Henry and Patrick County, protecting our God given 2nd Amendment rights and sending illegals back to their home countries so housing pricing will finally decrease than we are interested in another foreign policy expert. What is your stand on opening up more nuclear power plants in Virginia so utility costs might go down? The focus needs to be on Virginians. What are you domestic policy positions? Do you have any knowledge of manufacturing outside of tech and defense spending and finance? There are hundreds of thousands of Virginians who live south and west of NOVA that do not have a voice.

Senator Warner, you say you want to “lower costs” What specific policies have you backed to cut gas, grocery, and housing prices for Virginia families? Prices surged under Biden, when inflation was up to 9%, yet you are targeting Trump for an inflation rate of half that, and for properly funding border enforcement and deporting criminal illegal aliens. Your open-border policies drove up housing demand, strained services, and raised costs. Virginians deserve better.
While gas, grocery, and housing costs surge, Trump is signing another $70 billion giveaway to masked ICE agents – without any meaningful guardrails. We need action to lower costs, not tens of billions for ICE.

I strongly support slashing the bloated Washington bureaucracy that’s crushing innovation and costing Virginia families thousands every year. This must be done fairly and effectively. As your Senator, I’ll fight for real reform to unleash opportunity and put power back in your hands.

I am a strong supporter of our Constitutional rights. Any attempt to infringe on them, I oppose with everything I have. Mark Warner has repeatedly voted to weaken those rights, pushing gun control measures and expanding surveillance powers. He’s a career politician who doesn’t put Virginians first. As a retired Major General who swore an oath to defend the Constitution, I do.

I want to reiterate that I support a simplified, easy-to-use tax code. Currently, the tax code is over 70,000 pages; there is simply no way every single page is necessary. So many hidden fees, complicated rules, and useless taxes are buried in there, and I want to remove them. If Senator Warner got his way, thousands more pages would be added, curbing innovation and causing mass layoffs through higher taxes across the board. Taxes should be simple, so you don’t need companies like TurboTax or H&R Block.

REMINDER: Senate Democrats, including Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, voted against border security TWENTY TIMES. They want to take us back to Biden's border invasion. Now, under President Trump and Republican leadership in Congress, we have the most secure border in history.

Senator Mark Warner, your endorsement of Graham Platner is a disappointing rationalization of serious personal conduct issues that should disqualify any candidate for the U.S. Senate. As a retired Major General who served with honor, I know character is not optional; blaming President Trump or shifting standards doesn't erase Platner's baggage or strengthen our democracy. Virginians and Maine voters deserve leaders of integrity, not excuses. Character still matters.
#MaineSenate NYT: Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) said that Graham Platner’s behavior would probably have taken him out of the running in earlier decades, but that President Trump had lowered the bar for candidates’ personal conduct. “President Trump set a new standard”, Warner told “This Week” on ABC News, invoking the “Access Hollywood” tapes in which Donald Trump boasted about groping women. “Whether that low standard is what we ought to proceed with is going to be, again, in the hands of the voters.” Link to article: nytimes.com/2026/06/07/us/po…

I don't want to hear the lie that a republican can't defeat Mark Warner in November, with the right record, experience, and background, it's extremely possible. I'm a two-star general, a former Trump appointee, and a family man. I know what it takes.

Senator Mark Warner continues to play political games while our nation faces real threats. President Trump has shown decisive leadership in dealing with Iran, bringing stability where previous administrations failed. Instead of scoring cheap points on social media, Warner should focus on securing our borders, supporting our troops, and putting Virginia families first. Virginians deserve better than recycled partisan attacks. I am ready to bring real experience and results to the Senate.
Trump has said the war in Iran is over 30 times. So why are there still headlines like this?

It truly isn’t hard to put people over politics when you interact with constituents every day. Mark Warner refuses to meet with those struggling the most from his actions in Congress, because as long as his pockets are lined, he is satisfied. I’m not. I’m here to advocate for those shut out by Warner who feel he doesn’t represent them. I want to represent all Virginians, not just corporate donors and the highest bidder.

Numbers don't lie. Virginians are agreeing with our message. Let's take this momentum to the primaries, then to beat Mark Warner once and for all.

It seems grocery prices still have not recovered from the post-COVID inflation under Biden. As your Senator, I will do everything in my power to lower costs for Virginia families. Mark Warner probably never even noticed the problem. When you are a centi-millionaire, everyday prices like groceries rarely cross your mind.
