Capacity searches in @GenLogs nearly doubled last week compared to the next highest week over the last 180 days. Searches were already up in late April to mid May as capacity continued to exit the market. Load boards aren't cutting it. Expect $5 rates soon.

A freight broker booked a load with 'Scottway Logistics.' Refrigerated load from Idaho, going to Florida. Carrier passed vetting platform. MacroPoint tracking was used. The truck 'shows up' at the shipper, asks for a $2,000 fuel advance. The broker sends the money upon confirmation that the truck has been loaded. Shipper calls, "When will the truck be here?!" Broker: Confused. Angry. The broker asks the driver for an image of the bill of lading. The driver sends a generic picture of a BOL. The driver and dispatch go ghost mode. But hey, they made $2,000. --- With a few more minutes of vetting and a bit of human discernment, this did NOT have to happen. Using @SearchCarriers & @GenLogs, I can tell you this trucking company was not suitable for a load from Idaho to Florida. 1. SearchCarriers: Contact changes recently. No inspections. Virtually no activity for this carrier. 2. GenLogs: No carrier sightings in Idaho or Florida, ever. Looking at the images, this carrier only runs box trucks... *Original Facebook post below.

Post-Thanksgiving USDOT observations are down in both the daily and rolling 7-day charts. Capacity is leaving the market.

Debating putting out a few indices based on observed activity across the USA. Here are a few examples (WoW % changes). It's cool to see how Labor Day caused a dip across all three indices. Also interesting that SAIA is lagging recently in LTL. Should I publish more? Comment!

GenLogs now has data on ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น the beneficial cargo owners (BCO) and shippers/receivers that have drayage volume to/from coastal ports... โœ… Simply click on a Port and see where all the inland drayage goes (including crossdock hops) and a list of all the shipper/receivers/BCOs tied to which Ports they use for import/exports. โœ… Another click and you are looking at a list of all the drayage carriers that can run that lane to carry those intermodal containers inland. โœ… One more click and you are looking at pictures of the drayage carriers and can now set alerts on containers and chassis numbers in the Asset Locator tool! This is a freight forwarder or drayage carrier's dream and is proud to be a member of @Intermodal (Intermodal Association of North America) and help support our fellow members! The Top 100 carriers observed ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜ on GenLogs' nationwide sensor network. The Top 10 carriers largely remained the same, but XPO edged up to #9 and bumped Schneider to #11. โœ… Some of the Q1 and Q2 spots were identical -- like Tyson Foods at #21, Melton Truck Lines at #33, Hobby Lobby at #70, and Landstar Inway at #86 on both lists. This is good to see, as it means GenLogs is able to capture relatively consistent data -- so big changes really stand out... โœ… There were some BIG jumps up on the list, like H-E-B going from #92 to #68 and Estes Express Lines going from #62 to #43. Way to go!! โœ… Amazon Logistics made the list (#87) after just missing it last time. โœ… The rankings of the long-tail of the chart remain extremely tight! Clean Harbors (#67) and H-E-B (#68) were separated by just ONE observation! โœ… The number of claimed power units with FMCSA doesn't always correspond to higher/lower observations. Tri-National, Inc. punches way above its weight at #34 despite having only 804 power units, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
