When you are under attack for your work, just remember that 121 authors signed their name to a rejection of Einstein's special theory of relativity, including 28 who penned critiques in a 104 page book titled "100 authors against Einstein". And yet, Einstein was right.

Published July 3, a paper by Wertenbroek, et al., offers a new approach to the perennial problem of haplotype switch/flip errors in DNA statistical phasing. The stated error rate improvements are significant over running Beagle v5.4 or SHAPEIT5 alone. journals.plos.org/plosgeneti…

A collaboration among Wellcome, the U. of Cambridge, and EMBL's European Bioinformatics Institute looks to address the next frontier in bioinformatics: the application of quantum computing to the analysis and management of pangenomic datasets for large population samples.

Grouped genes called “supergenes” help prevent the genetic mixing that occurs when chromosomes recombine — kind of like keeping reds separated from whites in a load of genetic laundry. quantamagazine.org/how-super…

Watched @SyanRhodes last newscast for @KPRC2 last night. Unlike the vast majority of on-air newscasters, I could listen for an hour to Syan read nothing but lists of Google search results. She will be missed. We can only hope she returns to broadcasting sometime in the future.

A massive raspberry and middle finger to @WavesAudioLtd who, last Sunday and with NO advance notice to customers, changed from the a la carte options they've always had to a subscription-only format.

We're now out of luck if we need to update one of the 10 plug-ins we use all the time. The only viable option now is to pay $250 a year to access over 220 plug-ins...when the bulk of their customers need and use only a few.

But those few may be critical parts of their audio chains. Time to start looking to other providers like @iZotopeInc, @UAudio, @brainworxaudio, and @reasonstudios for replacement options. Bad move--especially in the current economy--@WavesAudioLtd.
