10x Genomics generally has better strategic planning than Nanostring. But one area they fell behind is having a library of antibodies for their single cell and spatial applications

In our industry going forward
we shall not use the term “it’s like comparing apples and oranges”
but instead say “it’s like standard biotools and treeline biosciences”
Finances aside, this merger makes meagre sense

There’s strategic planning
And there’s also. . .
“Hey I just met this person at a conference and…”
“Did you see that GenomeWeb article about our competitor…”
“We just missed our quarter therefore…”

Some are more immune to this:
- Founder CEOs
- Where power is concentrated (eg share ownership)
- Long serving leaders
- Involvement (or lack of micromanagement?) of the board

If it’s just about iterative improvements (same base tech), then that’s safer. But these can be unexciting and not the point of unveiling the roadmap ⚡️
True excitement is an out of the blue product announcement that’s ready to ship today📦
Do that and everyone will be talking about you and hopefully w revenue recognition
I get that it’s complicated with pipelines, budgeting ans forecasting. Will post about this another time 🐄
