Very proud of @sydneyunigeo PhD student, Chris Alfonso, who just published his 1st paper in GSA Bulletin! π This project used spatio-temporal data mining (powered by #pyGPlates #gplately) and machine learning to help find new porphyry copper deposits.

Tribrachidium β a member of the famous #Ediacaran biota β just got less mysterious. Careful measurement finds that its two species (T. heraldicum and T. gehlingi) are distinct in shape no matter the environment or rock type, allowing investigation of their growth patterns.
