In February 2026, there were 345,000 fewer children enrolled in Medicaid/the Children’s Health Insurance Program compared to before the start of the pandemic in February 2020, a 1% decline, according to the latest data from CMS.

The # of children enrolled in Medicaid is ⬇️ much more quickly than during Trump’s 1st term when the uninsured rate rose.
For families facing cost pressures, even 1 month of a child going uninsured exposes them to dangerous choices.

Our updated @georgetownccf tracker finds that 16 months into President Trump’s 2nd term, Medicaid is covering 2 million fewer children.
This is very bad news b/c the child uninsured rate is likely going up as a result.
And this is before HR 1 Medicaid cuts kick in.

Remember the rhetoric that kids would be protected? Not so.
