Tutors, coaches, teachers and campus leaders recently celebrated the success of @literacy_first in GISD. In the 2025-26 school year, Literacy First expanded from two to five schools across GISD and served 138 students. As a result: ⭐ 87% of participating students demonstrated accelerated literacy growth, ⭐ 74 students graduated from the program by consistently meeting grade level expectations, ⭐ and 102 students exited the program on or near grade level expectations. We are so proud of this partnership and look forward to another year of literacy success for EVERY learner. #OnlyInGeorgetownISD

Texas State Champion: ✅ 3rd in the Nation: ✅ Ethan Moses had a major weekend at SkillsUSA Nationals! After winning state in April, Ethan finished 3rd in the nation in Aviation Maintenance Technology over the weekend. Congratulations to Ethan and to his advisor Dr. Dittmer! #BreakingNews: GHS graduate Gavin Thompson is a National Merit Scholarship winner! Gavin entered the program with more than 1.3 million juniors across the nation in the fall of 2024. Today, he is one of just 6,700 students to make it to the finals and earn a scholarship. Next, Gavin's heading to college to study computer engineering. We are #GISDProud 👏

Career and Technical Education (CTE) prepares students for success beyond graduation, and this week, CTE Coordinator Paul Boff helped inspire educators from across Texas to do just that. As keynote speaker at the Region 7 CTE Summit, Paul encouraged teachers to embrace growth, step outside their comfort zones, and use the summer months to prepare new ideas and opportunities for students. We know that students learn best when they're in school, and we're incredibly proud of the shared effort to support student attendance in GISD. This semester, average daily attendance improved district-wide, and it shows! Preliminary STAAR data shows 14 campuses with gains. Thanks to Happy Chicks Chicken Kitchen, Texas Honey Ham Company and @Schlotzskys for sponsoring attendance initiatives and helping students find success.

Starting this week, GISD facilities will operate on a modified summer schedule. GISD facilities will be closed on Fridays between June 5 and July 31. The district office will be open for business on Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
