I’m not sure God’s light shines on East London. They have floods, then they have no water, they have localised power cuts, I’ve literally seen a pigeon being eaten by a wild snake there. Like it doesn’t seem like a real place.

This perceptual strategy is similar to those employed by Machine Learning Image Classifiers. When tested on our image set, CNNs performed similarly to 4-5 year old children, and found the same two-tones challenging. 5/6

Importantly, abnormal performance on this task is linked to a disruption in the weighting of prior-knowledge, and is seen in Schizophrenia and dementia patients. Our results reveal that young children's visual perception is not shaped by past experiences as in adulthood. 6/6
