The Federal Republic of Germany’s Ambassador to Fiji and Special Envoy to the Pacific Islands Region, H.E. Dr Andreas Prothmann, paid a farewell courtesy call to the Secretary General, Baron Divavesi Waqa, during a visit to the Forum Secretariat today.
Dr Prothmann, who assumed his post in Suva in 2023, and the Secretary General discussed issues of mutual interest to both Germany and the Pacific region. Secretary General Waqa expressed his appreciation for Germany’s continued support and contributions to regional development across Forum member states, and thanked Ambassador Prothmann for his valued service and contributions during his tenure.
Germany, a Forum Dialogue Partner since 2016, has led a range of initiatives supporting the region, particularly in climate resilience, loss and damage, blue carbon, and biodiversity.
