surprisingly many candidates who look great on paper make this mistakešŸ‘‡
Spoke to a candidate who had a solid SWE resume. Throughout the entire call all he did was bash all of his previous employers. Every time I tried to guide and direct the convo towards his skills & experience, he went right back to ranting. Even if you’re right as a candidate, don’t this. It’s simply just not a good look.

1 - Quality > Quantity It's better to send one, targeted high quality application to your dream startup than blasting your resume to hundreds of opportunities Most applications to a rando applicant tracking system at a startup that's doing well are dead on arrival

4. State a Specific Number: Use as a last resort, as it's better to talk to the employer before accidentally lowballing yourself.
