In 1993, we held a 2-0 lead over the Bulls and Jordan, only to witness them win four consecutive games, advancing to the finals, which left a 12-year-old me experiencing heartbreak for the first time, a pain I had not felt before, one that I discovered I was capable of feeling when I was taken aback by tears, a different kind of pain than I had previously known. This experience has stayed with me, and I have come to realize that the glory of our journey, despite the setbacks, has prepared us for the triumph that is now within our grasp, a victory that will make all of our past losses integral to the foundation of what will be celebrated by current and former Knicks players and fans as the most meaningful and soul-satisfying championship, one that will restore the city, renowned as the Mecca of Basketball, to its rightful place as the Basketball Champion of the world, if only for a year, and in the most legendary manner possible. We are one win away from erasing four decades of disappointment.
