The Guardian is planning a hit job on me for my tweet, below I stand by every word People who blow up British children at pop concerts, people who murder British commuters on the London Tube, people who murder British workers on the train home, people who behead our soldiers, people who mass rape our kids might have a British passport but they are not one of us, sorry A nation, as Sir Roger Scruton once said, is not just a contract —it is a community of attachment To be British, to be English, is to identify emotionally with us, and our people, not just hold a passport Citizenship is not the same thing as belonging; and belonging requires more than a piece of paper The people I point to below —the terrorists, the murderers, the people who hate who we are—have not integrated into our home, have not assimilated, and certainly do not respect our home and culture They might be formally British but they have excluded themselves from our moral community I will never apologise for my views And I will certainly never apologise to the left, which would happily reduce Britishness and Englishness so that they mean nothing at all I will always stand up for the British and the English people End of story
