I'm old enough to remember when Nigel Farage would hold a press conference at the drop of a hat. So why is he now launching his divisive policies in a blog post from the safety of his keyboard? I can think of 5 million reasons why…

"Interdict".... gosh, that's a new word, isn't it? It will be all over the fashionable journalists' copy by the middle of the week, you watch 😁

Can you believe you are living through a time when this is being said openly in your country? I feel nothing but shame.
Many of those "foreign nationals" will have kids who were born in this country. I've yet to hear from Matt and his party where they stand on making children (British children!) homeless, and threatening to deport their parents.

The Economist - & much of our media - oppose wealth taxes as they say they "deter innovation." Every year graduates leave with huge debts they'll spend entire lives paying off. Even with a wealth tax, the super rich still make money on their assets. youtu.be/F8mfqPNdENw?si=722H…

Its hard to undersell just how large the demonstration in Belfast was today. It was one of the largest demonstrations i've ever seen in the city.

Reform want to take us to a grim place. They've been in their right wing echo chamber for far too long. The vast majority of people in this country don't denigrate difference - we celebrate it.

The problem isn’t welfare @AndyBurnhamGM It’s extraction. The welfare state is magic self perpetuating. The problem isn’t welfare. The welfare state was one of the greatest engines of prosperity ever created: healthier children, educated workers, security that allowed people to innovate and take risks. The problem is extraction, an economy where wealth flows upwards and away from the communities that create it. A society cannot cut its way to prosperity if its productive foundations are being hollowed out.

He is literally inciting racist pogroms on our streets using the communications platform he bought because he has too much money. Musk is actively making black & brown people physically unsafe in their homes with his trillions. Ask them what difference it makes to their lives🙄
What difference does it make to your life?

I'd never condone violence against a police officer - this is utterly dishonest. The jury weren't judging them on a terrorism offence. This is an awful sleight of hand. The creeping encroachment of terror laws onto protest & removal of our juries should worry all of us.
These thugs fractured the spine of Sgt Kate Evans, who spoke in court of the medical and emotional trauma she still lives with. Prison is where they belong. Unlike Zack Polanski, I want serious consequences for anyone who attacks police officers risking their lives to protect us.

The ECB's interest rate hike does not help. It reminds me of Trichet's policy mistakes when energy prices rebounded in 2011, after energy prices recovered from a slump. This time, energy prices jumped because of a war. Why increase interest rates? 🤔 newyorker.com/magazine/2011/…

And this is a big reason why we are in the spiralling mess we are in. "It's the politics of envy innit?" 🙄
Person 1 sees someone flourish and says… good for him. I’d like to succeed like that and see others do so too. His taxes will pay for a lot. Person 2 sees someone flourish and says… why does he have that and I haven’t? It’s bad. Take it from him. Which do you wish to be?
