Dude! I felt this #Earthquake in Hollywood, #Florida! I was sitting on my couch and felt the whole couch move, looked at my coffee table and it was swaying, then checked my water and it was moving! That was like a solid 60 mins of shaking. WOW!

6/8 @ 2:15pm: We've received several recent reports of shaking across Southwestern Florida within the past 30 minutes. An earthquake has occurred just west of Cuba in the southern Gulf. @USGS_Quakes has since revised the magnitude down to a 6.1 at a depth of 10km.

Clarification because we’ve seen many M9.0 GlobalQuake posts on Twitter/X: The M9.0 value was an early automatic estimate from GlobalQuake. It was later revised to M8.5 and then M8.0! The official magnitude per USGS is M7.8. GlobalQuake data is always preliminary and can change as more data comes in. Only official agencies can provide final magnitude values. We also do not control which revision people choose to share on social media. This is why we did not post the M9.0 estimate on our official Twitter/X account. After more data came in, we shared a screenshot showing the more accurate magnitude estimate available to us.
