No more positive, negative, positive feedback sandwiches. The positives should be so overwhelming, specific, and frequent that when we need to say the hard thing, we can say it directly and clearly. It’s more genuine and productive this way.

Before we ask, “Why didn’t the student use the feedback?” We need to ask: “Did I give student time to process the feedback and resources for them to learn from it?” “Was the student working on something where the feedback mattered?” “Was there a grade involved?”
