Save river swimming at Grantchester Meadows, Cambridge from Kings College ban - if an army of “flower-crowned laughing swimmers” is needed to defy this, count us in waterandwild.blogspot.com/20…
Long ago an English-born child went to Wembley, he was so small that his dad bought a wooden stool so he could stand on the terrace and see the game. His Scottish dad said you could always support England then one of us would definitely win. No way, it has to be Scotland [thread]
England won 5-1 but he never wavered then or since in supporting Scotland. Will that grown up child be heading for more disappointment this very evening? Or maybe not
Sadly his own considerable sporting talents were overlooked and he never had to make the choice about which team to play for, though it would not have been in doubt. But his own kids know that playing for Scotland remains the preferred option- I mean their grandad’s from Islay!
