How much does the Historical Truth of religious traditions matter to you, as a practitioner or as an outsider? Does it make the stories less transcendant to think of them as allegorical, or more? How do you comparem the validity of Abrahamic faiths with something like Hinduism?

Through the filter of civilizations winding events of circumstance and will, to reckon with the implications of any tradition over another seems almost impossible. Only a holistic interpretation of mystic history seems satisfactory, but also brutally reductive and subjective.
