It was possible, it turned out, for a man to be gay and also be one of the best athletes in the world. It was an act of bravery that likely resonated in ways we can’t imagine.
We wake up each day hoping to make our corner of the world a better place, and that’s exactly what Jason Collins did. I have no connection to him except that we each went to the same school, but tonight that makes me proud. Tomorrow I’ll try to make my world a better place.

Well, you could make the argument that it’s good for Stanford to let UCLA win a natty from time to time, just to keep the overall race (139-127) mildly interesting.
ESPN is showing the NCAA women’s beach volleyball championship right now. With three matches playing at once (soon five) I can’t understand why @espn wouldn’t have all the scores on the screen at once. It seems obvious, right?

Just learning that Stanford has branded its 50-year championship streak “the Hyperion Streak,” referencing the world’s tallest tree. I approve.
