The internet has made many forget that reputation still matters. The more you grow, the more you realise that it’s not noise that elevates you! it’s discipline, integrity, and the way you treat people. Influence is a seed; how you nurture it determines the harvest.
This is gold!
I went out recently, and I met a powerful and well-connected person. He called me by my name and complimented what I do on X. He invited me over to his place and hosted me. Few weeks ago, I was at Buju's listening party with Yomyom, and he stopped mid performance and pointed to my direction. "I see Sir Dickson in the building. Thank you for coming. Thank you for all you do." There are a few others like that.
My point is, mind how you move on this app because people are paying attention, whether you know it or not. The people that know you are more than the people you know. You want to be noted positively.
When raising money for people, I don't tag anybody. I actually feel it is harassing because we are putting them under pressure. Instead, I just post and let anyone who wants to donate, give what they can. 2 Cor 9:7 is my template. It says "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
I've seen people dragged others for not donating enough simply because you have sized up their pocket. These people have bills and responsibilities you know nothing about. I don't message any friend or relationship I have, privately, to get them to donate, in order not to abuse relationship.
Every money is not good money. As your account grows, you'll get offers to promote different stuff. You have to vet properly if it is something you want to stand behind. Elon Musk's money is good, but it is not all there is. Build your account deliberately.
Influencers can help you grow your account and get engagement. You might have to pay for the services and that is okay. Value comes with a price. But you have to give them what to work with. "Follow for follow back" is not content someone can quote or work with. Begging for impression is not what someone can work with. "Me or N5 million" is a stupid thing to work with. Have content or niche. Write from your heart. You can even respond to people by buttressing their point or making a counterargument. There are a million things to talk about. Just write!
Nobody has monopoly of blocking. If they block you, block them back. Stop crying that you got blocked. You're not entitled to anyone following you or not blocking you back.
When you meet people in person, be gracious to them and enjoy the moment regardless of their followers count or status. There is more to life than sizing people up. Most rich people online have few followers anyway. Mind how you move online and just enjoy the TL. People are actually much better in person. But be careful because we are also surrounded by criminals.
Influence is power. You will decide how you want to use your account when it gets big. Always remember that trust is earned and people are watching. You don't want to be absent in a room, and they say you don't have sense.
Dragging will not kill you. If anything, it gives you impression. Don't be dragged for being stupid or criminal. Don't be in group think or think tank. We are not of hive minds. Have personal conviction and tweet what you believe to be true and honest, regardless of popular opinion. To thy own self be true. Actions have consequences - even the right actions - so stop asking why you are blocked. As an influencer, you'll be dragged regardless and held accountable for opinions you share with other people. It is what it is.
Some people drag you for clout, just to get your attention or get public attention. Know whom to quote or ignore. Know whom to block. This is very important.
I'm just rambling about. But I hope this answers your questions on navigating this app and becoming a big account or Influencer.
