I'm the head of the indie video game development studio Goldhawk, working on the Xenonauts franchise (spiritual successors to the classic X-Com games).
We're looking for an experienced Unity particle artist to make some cool projectile / explosion / fire effects for Xenonauts-2. If you're interested, please send a few work examples to chris@xenonauts.com - and if other devs have any recommendations, please let me know!
Thanks for the retweets on the writer post, everyone! We've got another position that I'd like to advertise (following shortly) and it'd be great if you could retweet or pass it to anyone who might be interested - this one is a full-time job based in London.
I'll be buying Frozen Synapse 2 when it unlocks in about three hours. Guess Battletech and Phantom Doctrine will remain installed but unplayed for another few weeks...
Fellow devs - anyone got a good SFX artist (not a composer) who they've worked in the past who might be good at making sci-fi gun noises / impact sounds / alien sounds? Asking for a friend, obviously.
71 hours left of the Kickstarter now - hoping we can get to the modding stretch goal too; I'm still amazed at how many mods the first Xenonauts has spawned and it'd be great to see what people can do if we make it easier for them!
I'm really pleased with the additions we've made to the Portrait Editor since the start of the Kickstarter; it's been a lot of work but over 1,700 people have backed at a tier where they get a custom soldier portrait
The contrast in my mental state between the X1 and X2 Kickstarters could hardly be greater. I really struggled during the first one, whereas this one has been nothing but positive (although both massively exceeded my expectations in terms of success!)
A tip for anyone doing a Kickstarter - push it back if you need to. Make sure your video and page are totally done at least 3 days before the launch - if you're already tired and stressed when you launch a Kickstarter the experience is horrific.
