Zero out taxes for the bottom half of earners. A nurse in Queens shouldnât be sending money to Washington. Washington should be sending her an apology.

Yes, the United States has the most progressive tax system in the world. The top 1% pay 40% of taxes, the bottom 50% pay 3% of taxes. We can make it even more progressive by zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. Itâs a small amount of the total tax revenue but very meaningful to people in this group.

He cited a nurse in Queens making ~$75K and paying ~$12K in taxes saying âwe shouldnât be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington.â

Thank you. The important part is zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. Best way to put money in someoneâs pocket is to not take it out in the first place. Bottom half is only 3% of total tax revenue. But itâs very meaningful to that person. Zero it out.
Facts
It's great that Jeff Bezos thinks this way, because too many people who don't make money think that giving money to the government will solve a lot of their problems. They think these government programs are the answer, and it's clearly not. You can look at the federal level or at the state level, and you will see that a lot of government programs are simply waste.
