If Condé Nast can get away with illegally firing four union workers, it will send a message that the foundations of labor law are collapsing. One of the Fired Four, @GoodbyeAlma, explains why the fight for their reinstatement has bigger stakes than just one media company. bit.ly/4o2TFSp

do NOT see this clip a bunch of times and get the impression that inside llewyn davis is one of the fun coen brothers movies and suggest it to lighten the mood after fighting with your partner who is marginally employed, creatively frustrated, and, it turns out, secretly homeless

Might be the best scene in the Coen’s filmography. Absolute gold.

New from @yonoella: Teen Vogue carved a space for us to feel recognized and validated, and its loss under rising conservatism creates an irreplaceable void in teen media. objectivejournalism.org/2025…

Last week, Condé Nast fired four staffers, including Jasper Lo, a senior fact checker at The New Yorker, in an act of illegal union-busting. Join us tomorrow at 6pm to demand that the company reverse this unjust and unlawful decision.

Newsrooms are supposed to be open to criticism and debate. But Condé Nast chose to fire union journalists for raising concerns about recent layoffs. This is illegal, violates the union contracts, and betrays principles of good journalism. @nyguild nypost.com/2025/11/07/media/…

less than a week before my illegal termination, I had a stellar performance review where my manager and I were planning a promotion for me. being a good organizer and being good at your job often go hand in hand

yes, me being trans does not guarantee me a job, but my rights under the national labor relations act and the protections the company agreed to give me in the union contract they signed do.
Replying to @GoodbyeAlma
And absolutely none of that guarantees you a job.

I was fired by Conde Nast. I was a writer & producer at Bon Appétit for nearly five years, during which I helped organize our union . I am, to my knowledge, the only trans woman in our union and the only trans woman on editorial who doesn't work at Them, the queer magazine.

I love my job, I love my coworkers, and I love my union. I'm devastated the company made this move. There are so few trans women in media at all — particularly ones who aren't confined to "Queer Media" — and I was incredibly proud of what my position at Bon Appétit meant at large

More important to me than my identity, I am also the Vice President of the NewsGuild of New York, and targeting me with a blatantly retaliatory termination like this feels like an egregious shot against our union and against media workers as a whole.
