Statement 1: Religions are good at creating sheep.
There's really no room for debate about this when it comes to Christianity.
According to the New Testament, Jesus said: “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me." John 10:14 NIV
The Old and New Testaments are filled with references to believers as sheep.
It has been said that sheep will follow whoever is leading them, even if it's off a cliff. Christian martyrs are honored and revered by believers.
Religions call for unswerving obedience to God--as defined and articulated by the human leaders of that religion. So, I say: Religions are good at creating sheep.
I did not say all religious people are stupid. That's not the case. I did not say that religions have made no positive contributions to the world. I did not say that religious people are by definition bad people.
Statement 2: Dictators need sheep.
I did not say that all dictators are religious.
I did not say that religions are the only method of creating sheep-like followers.
I simply wrote: Dictators need sheep.
