I'm all for jobs with more responsibility being banded higher. I'm all for a premium being paid where vacancies are high. I baulk at the idea that one degree entry profession is intrinsically better than others so deserves better pay.
A new pay spine for nursing would mean, like doctors and dentists, nursing pay would be negotiated separately, getting our profession the recognition it is owed.
This is crucial for safe staffing.
