We're delighted to have helped unlock a new future for Thornhill's Cat C listed former police station with some viability funding to help Old School Thornhill investigate the evidence for how best to adapt it for potential housing & childcare uses!

Part of a rather wonderful new ceramic tile mural in Glasgow's Central Station created by Make It Glasgow. It was inspired by an Art Nouveau style poster designed by Margaret and Francis MacDonald for Joseph Wright's Drooko Umbrella Company.

At Scottish Historic Environment Forum #SHEF2026 today in Glasgow: Jo and I were manning a table in Connections Space & making plenty of connections while our CEO Matt Mckeague was also on the panel about Economic & Creative renewal - a topic close to the heart of us here at AHF!
Aberdeen’s C-listed @BelmontCinema first showed films in 1898. It is now being revived as city’s only community-led independent cinema, education centre & café bar.
The AHF has helped with an #HESsupported grant in 2024 to help develop sustainable plans for its future.
Just at the point where I'm poised to approve final artwork for the Garden Festival book I am pleasantly sidetracked by an intriguing academic query about discarded GGF items appearing in 'Taggart' (and not the Garden Festival episode everyone knows about)...
Visiting Aberdeen’s Cat B-listed Wallace Tower today. Built c.1600 in city centre, moved to Seaton Park in 1960s, & now restored after nearly 30 years of dereliction by Tillydrone Community Development Trust. The AHF supported project with @WmGrantFound grants in 2023 & 2025.
Splashing news! Tarlair Lido among this year’s RIAS award winners!
AHF supported Friends of Tarlair with #HESsupported grant for plans to regenerate this remarkable Cat A-listed complex. No swimming yet but café’s scones and sea views well worth the trip!

Yesterday’s bank holiday was a great day for a sunny work trip downriver to visit some Inverclyde-based projects AHF has been supporting. Three projects of very different scales and at different points, but all extremely inspiring!

In Greenock, @Creativeregen have just taken ownership of the former Glebe building, a B-listed former sugar warehouse, with plans to regenerate it as community learning space and creative hub. AHF have helped with an #HESsupported viability & dev grants towards design team costs.
In Gourock, CR are up and running in the B-listed Old Library Annex, now a welcoming space offering a range of STEAM activities for young people & adults. AHF helped with #HESsupported PVG to get specialist conservation advice on repairs for the very weathered sandstone facade!
Lovely wander along Bo’ness foreshore yesterday - some excellent interesting bricks spotted.
Could this partial circular brick structure perhaps be a surviving part of base of chimney from Carriden Colliery visible on old OS maps & in Trove pic? location roughly fits at least!
Today a 🧵 about lost treasure in #Edinburgh, & how a friend of mine found it. The treasures in question are the swanky goods that go with the office of Usher of the White Rod, a hereditary office at the Scottish Parliament, established in the 14th century... Are you in? /1
