Today I signed an Executive Order establishing a higher bar for data center development in Utah. Utahns deserve confidence that water resources, air quality, utility rates, wildlife, and quality of life will be protected. This framework helps ensure that data center development aligns with Utah’s long-term interests and reflects Utah values. In Utah, environmental stewardship and economic opportunity go hand in hand.

What a wonderful way to honor Karen and her impact!
Few people have given more of their time, talent, and resources to the people of Utah than Karen Huntsman. Today, we recognized her lifetime of service by declaring June 12, 2026, as Karen Huntsman Day in Utah. More here: deseret.com/utah/2026/06/03/…

Congratulations to the second cohort of graduates from the State of Utah Leadership Certification Program. Over the past nine months, these public servants invested in the skills, judgment, and relationships it takes to lead well — all while continuing to serve Utahns in their day-to-day roles. They represent 19 state agencies and the kind of dedication that makes Utah government work. The best thing about Utah has always been our people. I’m grateful for these leaders and for all those who choose to serve our state.

Our state is home to 40 of the 50 minerals critical to America’s economy and national security, which means Utah is uniquely positioned to lead as we strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce our dependence on foreign adversaries. From research and innovation to responsible resource development, we’re helping write the next chapter of American prosperity and national security.

Strong relationships are built through time, trust, and meaningful connection. That's why we launched CHAT: Family Connection for Healthy Futures — a statewide effort led by the Office of Families and @UtahDHHS to encourage parents to spend time with their kids, have meaningful conversations, and strengthen family bonds. The need is real. While most parents believe their children would tell them when they're struggling, four in 10 Utah teens say they don't talk to anyone about their challenges. Every conversation matters. Every connection matters. And the trust we build today can make a difference for years to come. More here: deseret.com/family/2026/06/0…

We can’t afford to repeat the mistakes we made with social media. AI brings real opportunities, but it also raises real questions for parents, educators, and policymakers. Utah will protect kids, empower parents, and help young people develop the judgment and skills they need to navigate the online world. More here: semafor.com/article/06/08/20…

Congratulations to Jessica, Isla, and Livia from Herriman High School for taking first place at @DECAInc ’s international competition. Their award-winning project explored how Utah could pair solar energy with retired EV batteries at the Utah State Correctional Facility while creating workforce training opportunities for the future. Utah’s future is in good hands. Congratulations to these students and their teacher, Rickee.

One of the things I love most about Utah is that when there’s a need, people show up. That spirit was on full display at the Show Up for Summer Service Fair, where hundreds of Utahns connected with organizations making a difference in every corner of our state. Service strengthens families, builds friendships, and reminds us that we all have something to contribute. Abby and I want to thank the nonprofits, volunteers, and community partners who are helping Utahns find ways to serve this summer. It’s one more reason Utah is such a special place to call home.

Some of the most important conversations happen when we least expect them. A few minutes at the dinner table. A drive across town. A child who wants to talk at the end of a long day. Those moments may seem ordinary, but they're often where trust, resilience, and connection are built. More in @AWinderNewton's op-ed: deseret.com/opinion/2026/06/…

82 years ago, American and Allied heroes embarked on one of the most consequential missions in history. Their charge was simple: “Nothing less than full Victory.” On D-Day, Utah honors the courage and sacrifice of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy in defense of freedom. 🇺🇸

Utah is fortunate to have exceptional people willing to serve. I was proud to appoint Jay Jorgensen and Stephen Dent to the Utah Supreme Court. Both have built distinguished legal careers, earned the respect of their peers, and demonstrated a deep commitment to the rule of law. I am confident they will serve the people of Utah with integrity, humility, and independence, and I’m grateful for their willingness to take on this important responsibility.

Utah has lost one of its great builders. Karen Huntsman's generosity, determination, and compassion helped shape institutions that have brought hope and healing to people across our state and far beyond. Her influence will be felt for generations through the lives she touched and the causes she championed. Abby and I are saddened by her passing and extend our love and condolences to the Huntsman family. We join countless Utahns in expressing gratitude for a life dedicated to serving others.

Last night, we joined the @UTNationalGuard and the Honorary Colonels Corps to recognize Utah’s Soldiers and Airmen of the Year and celebrate the enduring legacy of the Minutemen they carry forward. We are grateful for the Honorary Colonels Corps and all those who support the Utah National Guard, its servicemembers, and their families. To the Soldiers and Airmen honored last night, and to the families who stand beside them: Abby and I are grateful for you. Utah is proud of you, and we will never take your service for granted.
