Our final inductee is @JonToogood, who fronts legendary New Zealand rock band Shihad and now international artist collective The Adults. At Massey, his MFA project Haja explored traditional Sudanese women’s music, inspired by his wedding with wife Dana.
Third, we recognise Annie Collins, acclaimed film editor. She has worked on iconic films from Scarfies to Out of the Blue, Lord of the Rings to Patu! She is known for the humanity she brings to her documentary and film work, and her keen eye for magical details.
Gordon’s daughter Carol Henderson accepts Gordon’s award. She says it is important to acknowledge the role creativity plays in our culture. Gordon would be thrilled.
Our next inductee is the late Gordon Tovey, artist and educator. He led a revolution of teaching art and crafts in schools in Aotearoa and the South Pacific, with a belief in fostering children’s creativity. His work ensured Māori art was taught in schools alongside Pākeha.
The photographic work of our first inductee, Distinguished Professor Anne Noble (Laureate) ONZM, offers sensitive and delicate consideration of people and our environment.

Tonight we celebrate the achievements of four distinguished alumni from the College of Creative Arts 🎉✨
Photographer Professor Anne Noble, film editor Annie Collins, late educator Gordon Tovey, and musician Jon Toogood will be inducted into our Hall of Fame.
This recognises their contributions to the worlds of music, art, film and education.
Anne, Annie, Jon and Gordon are outstanding role models for our students past and present, and we are proud to see @MasseyUni alumni achieving such excellence.
